An adult male Northern Cardinal in snow. They look especially bright — with striking red plumage — in the winter against the fresh snow.
They are song birds — and unlike many species of songbirds where only the male birds can vocalize — both male and female Cardinals can sing. Female Cardinal sing when they are in the nest as a way to signal male Cardinal to bring food to the nest.
The Cardinal is considered as state bird in seven U.S. states.

A breathtaking view of the Great Smoky Mountains with fresh snow on fall foliage.
The mountain range falls along the Tennessee-North Carolina border in the southern United States.
The name ‘smoky’ comes from the natural fog that often hangs over the range and presents as large smoke plumes from the distance.
It is part of the International Biosphere Reserve and is designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The range is home to 187, 000 acres of old growth forest.

This is the United States tallest and deepest underground waterfalls about 145-foot. Discovered accidentally in 1928 within the Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee, today Ruby Falls today attracts over half a million visitors each year.
The stream is fed by both rainwater and natural springs. It collects in a pool in the cave floor and then continues through the mountains until finally joining the Tennessee River.

A Northern Harrier hunting low over a marsh is one of the most distinctive raptors in flight. They were formerly know as the ‘Marsh Hawk’ The Marsh Hawk can fly low and nearly silent, plunging onto unsuspecting prey on the ground. This is due to the owl-like facial disk which provides directional hearing which helps in detecting prey in tall grass or low-light conditions, and its soft feathers that helps for quiet flight. During the 1950’s and 1960’s Marsh Hawks across the United States exhibited reproductive failure resulting from contamination with pesticide DDT. In 1980’s the population of Marsh Hawks declined to less than 50 breeding pairs statewide in NJ. Due to the population declines and the destruction of natural habitats, the Marsh Hawk is now listed as endangered in New Jersey, Rhode Island and Connecticut and threatened in New York, New Hampshire, Massachusetts State in the United States. Can’t really talk now! Enjoying a mouth full of food…seems to be saying an Eastern Chipmunk here in the Great Swamp, New Jersey.
Starting in early Fall season, Chipmunks collect preservable hard food such as seeds and acorns and stockpile in their borrows for consumption during the winter season. They transport food to their stashes by holding it in large cheek pouches and this gives them their distinctive chipmunk cheeks.
In Spring, they mate, and are mostly active foraging on the ground and feeding the new borns.
There are about 75 species of Tulips and breeding programs around the world have produced thousands of hybrids and cultivars.
In Spring, millions of Tulips in many varieties sprout and form colourful quilt of flowers across the United States.

While Tulips buds are know for being perfectly symmetrical making it the florists favourite for flower arrangements, Tulip extracts are also used in many beauty and cosmetic products including hand lotions and essential oils.
