This is the bird’s eye view of Acadia National Park, one of untouched landscapes located in the state of Maine in the USA. The national park, which spreads across 47, 000-acre in the Atlantic coast and reserves much of Mount Desert Island and associated smaller islands along the coast. Each year more than 3.3 million nature explorers’ visit this national park that offers a magnificent landscape filled with woodland, rocky beaches and glacier-scoured granite peaks of Cadillac Mountain.
There is no better season than Fall to experience this natural wonder in all its splendor (Fall Foliage). This photograph was taken from a charted plane.
In the following weeks, we will be exploring this natural wonder up-close and hiking through the Cadillac Mountains, sand beach and more.

Through Shravan Regret Iyer’s eyes and eloquence this project takes you on a visual journey from exploring underground network of caves that can only be accessed by boat, to a journey on the world’s first mountain-climbing cog railway. It is a journey of more than 10,000 miles (explored over a period of last one-and-a-half-years and still ongoing as part of 3lenses series) from flying over the borders of Canada on a charter jet for fall foliage to the far southern portion of the East coast where fairy tale creatures dwell.

The mysteries of a frog’s life cycle, or the strange biology of the firefly. Some of these creatures were surrounded with myths for very long time and some have only recently revealed their secrets. These are the animals that stand out from the crowd. The stories I find most fascinating and terrifying of all.

Forest dwellers are nature’s children and one expects them to be happy and hardy. This alas is not always the case. One prime example are the Soligas of BR Hills in southern Karnataka. Their traditions and life-style that should ensure their sound health also contribute to the prevalence of a deadly disorder known as sickle cell anaemia.The prime causative factor of the prevalence of this disorder is the tribals strong tendency to marry within the tribe. In this brief study, young researcher and photojournalist Shravan Regret Iyer gathers information about other factors that cause the disease. The result is a sneak peak into the Soligas’ life-style, beliefs, traditions, and customs. The book also sketches the pressure exerted on the tribals’ way of life by officialdom and the role of NGOs in striking a balance between their age-old way of life and succour that modern medicine can offer.
